Pride of Mum Award 2026 – Walkden Town Centre, Salford
Walkden’s Favourite Community Award Is Back – And Nominations Are Open Now
Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and Walkden Town Centre is celebrating the incredible women of our community with the return of the Pride of Mum Award 2026.
This is your chance to say thank you to the woman who holds everything together – whether that’s your mum, your nan, your sister, a friend, a neighbour, or a community hero who quietly goes above and beyond without ever being asked.
The winner will receive a luxury Spa Day at the Worsley Marriott Hotel — because she deserves it.
How to Nominate
Nominating couldn’t be simpler. Head over to the official Walkden Town Centre Facebook page, find the Pride of Mum Award post, and leave a comment telling us who she is and why she deserves to win. A few lines is all it takes.
Nominations close soon – the winner will be announced on Friday 13th March 2026 at 8pm.
The Nominations So Far – Walkden’s Women Are Incredible
The response from the community has already been overwhelming. Dozens of heartfelt nominations have poured in, and every single one is a reminder of just how much the women of Walkden, Little Hulton and the surrounding areas give to those around them.
Here are just some of the stories shared so far:
Mums Who Never Stop Giving
One daughter nominated her mum Lynda, who recently lost her husband of nearly 40 years. Despite her grief, she continues to work tirelessly and care for everyone around her – always putting others first and never herself.
Another nomination came in for Pam, who has been supporting her partner through cancer treatment at The Christie, travelling there every day despite suffering from panic attacks. Her daughter describes her as a woman with a heart of gold who never stops.
Sisters and Daughters Going the Extra Mile
Zoe was nominated by her sister after qualifying as a midwife this week – a five-year journey that started at age 30 with resitting her maths GCSE. She balanced 13-hour shifts, university assignments and raising three young children, saying throughout it all: “I’m doing it for the kids.”
Lisa was nominated by her mum for always being the first to support family, especially during hospital visits, while also being an amazing mum to her own two children.
Community Champions
Gemma and Rebecca received multiple nominations for their tireless community work across Walkden and Little Hulton. From providing food parcels to simply being there for a chat, families across the area say they couldn’t have got through the toughest of times without them. Gemma was also recognised for her daily fight against cancer – and still putting others before herself.
Trish was nominated for volunteering at Blackleach Country Park every week regardless of the weather, as well as giving her time to Friends of Parr Fold Park. She was described as the most thoughtful, helpful and kind person you could meet.
Strength in the Face of Loss
One of the most moving nominations came from a mother-in-law, who described her daughter-in-law’s courage in the face of unimaginable loss. This March will be the third Mother’s Day she receives a card from her son Lewis but not from her daughter Lucy, who lost her fight with cancer. Despite this, she has held her family together and remained a source of strength for everyone around her.
Another daughter nominated her mum Amanda, who lost her son and continues to be the strongest woman her family knows.
Why the Pride of Mum Award Matters to Walkden
Walkden has always been a place built on community spirit. From the volunteers who keep Blackleach Country Park and Parr Fold Park thriving, to the neighbours who drop off a Sunday lunch to someone who can no longer cook — this is a town that looks after its own.
The Pride of Mum Award is a small way of recognising that. It’s a chance for the whole community to come together and celebrate the women who make Walkden what it is.
Don’t Miss Your Chance to Nominate
If there’s a woman in your life who deserves to be pampered, recognised and celebrated, now is the time to speak up.
Visit the Walkden Town Centre Facebook page and leave your nomination in the comments of the Pride of Mum Award post.
It only takes a few lines — but it could mean the world to her.
