On 6th February, The Coffee House opened its doors at Ellesmere Shopping Centre in Walkden. And Walkden didn’t hold back.
From the very first day, local shoppers, families, and regulars from other branches came through to see what the fuss was about. House-roasted coffees, signature lattes, new matcha options, and freshly baked goods from the Bake House — the kind of place you pop in for a coffee and end up staying longer than you planned.
The feedback on social media has been lively, to say the least.
The thing that keeps coming up, again and again? The staff. “Happy and friendly,” “lovely,” “kind and welcoming” — people notice when a team actually enjoys being there. That matters more than most businesses realise.
Long-standing Coffee House regulars from Bolton, Farnworth, and Bury were quick to vouch for the brand. Several mentioned they’d already visited multiple branches and knew exactly what to expect. That kind of loyalty doesn’t happen by accident.
Of course, not everyone was sold. Some found the prices a stretch. A few had mixed feelings about the coffee itself. One person asked for a slice of lemon with their Earl Grey and was told there wasn’t one — fair feedback for any café worth its salt to take on board.
But that’s what happens when a new place opens in a community. People have opinions. They share them. And the businesses that listen and improve are the ones that stick around.
What’s clear is that Walkden wanted something to talk about. And now it has one.
